The PURPOSE of this blog is to share lessons learned from a variety of life's arenas and relate them to our health as individuals and as family and community members! Sounds simple, right? But what IS health? If you search online, you can find, literally, hundreds of definitions. For the purpose of this blog, I am going to use a slightly adapted version of the definition the World Health Organization (WHO) has used since 1946.


WHO Definition: "Health is a state of complete physical, social, and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

My Definition: "Health is gently striving for a state of complete physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being each day."

This definition just about encompasses every aspect of life!  So where do I begin? Personally, I am an individual, mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. Professionally, I am a human performance expert, formerly known as a strength and conditioning coach, I guess human performance expert sounds better.  I have coached beginner through elite athletes in a variety of sports, worked at a corporate wellness center and designed many youth programs aimed at improving health.  I connect with life through reflection, nature and people. I competed as a powerlifter at an international level where I won national and world titles and broke national and world records. All of these experiences have shaped who I am and will influence this blog. To the reader, the categories I have chosen to blog about may not seem to be connected, but they are the threads of my existence and have been woven together to create my life as I know it!
